You can go two ways with genderfucking:  outrageous, or subdued.


Outrageous
-------------------

    - people know you're trying to be outrageous, and may react specifically
        to that

    - it's not something you can do on a day-to-day basis (unless you're a
        raving frothing teenager), just because you need time to relax
        and not have people be constantly hostile to you

                - obviously it works for Halloween, but elsewhere it may
                  get negative reactions



Subdued
-------------------

    - AKA "trying to pass"

    - you're still fucking with people's take on gender, but it's not so
        in-your-face, force-you-to-think-about-it.
            
                - some gender cues are very subtle, and you can be subtle
                  about how you fuck with them

    - If you're going (what's the word?  "en drab" means not crossdressing,
                "en femme" means crossdressing as much as possible,
                what's the term for going halfway?  "en fuck"?  :)
      If you're going en fuck frequently, there are some things that aren't
      easy to do on a day-to-day basis, and these tend to be the more
      outrageous things:
                - beard glitter     (though it's not necessarily any harder than other makeup?)
                - fake beards that are penciled on
