• plop.at will allow these older computers to boot into USB, even though the BIOS doesn't support it
  • unetbootin will set up my USB drive to install Xubuntu
    • unetbootin doesn't necessarily support xubuntu by default, but you can use the .iso just fine
  • alternately, use isotostick.sh
  • alternately, you can boot the kernel from a CD, have Linux do the USB-driver-loading, and have it look for the rest of its files on the USB
