The website color scheme (and several other things) were revamped sometime this summer (2010).
I think there were some things that were improvements, but there's a few things that I find pretty grating, even as someone who isn't well-versed in website design work.
Some of Dave's comments (Dave = does web design as a day job) about the site are:
- the color scheme is pretty... bad
- it may be true that a queer site may want to push the bounds of whta's normally accepted, aesthetically
- however, this seems way beyond that
- there are certain colors that are just very difficult to base a site around
