Listing physical hard drives

In Solaris 9, this works:

iostat -Ein | perl -ple 'print "" if /Soft/'

As does this:

format < /dev/null

Listing partitions

This is the best by far (in Solaris 9), but the command line is kinda complicated:

/bin/echo 'partition\nprint' | format -d c0t3d0 | perl -0777 -F'\n\w+>.' -nae 'print $F[-2]'

Variations that are quicker to type:

/bin/echo 'partition\nprint' | format -d c0t3d0 | tail -15
/bin/echo 'partition\nprint' | format -d c0t3d0

This displays similar information:

prtvtoc /dev/dsk/*s0

You can do fsck -n to check where a partition was last mounted at.
