Ways to make Unity slightly more pallatable:

use Unity 2D instead of the default 3D version [howto]
disable Alt from popping up the HUD [howto]
replace the menu with dmenu / pydmenu
- apt-get install suckless-tools
- download/install pydmenu
- how to set it up (the script contents should just be eval "$(pydmenu.py)")
- disable the Unity launcher [howto]
fuck it, replace everything with GNOME Classic
