2001 court case
In 2001, the City of Chicago brought a court case (2001-M1-404383) against Michael Valentino due to issues with 13-196-570, that is, building code problems with the porch.
The inspector specifically said:
FRONT PORCH WING ON THE NORTH SIDE OF PORCH BOTTOM CEMET SUPPORT 13 BROKEN AND SEPERATING[sic] FROM WING
The case was dismissed ten days after summons were served, so I find it difficult to believe the repairs were carried out in that time. The case was dismissed because the judge found that the building was now in full compliance.
(There's possible confusion over whether "front porch wing" means "wing on the front porch" or "front wing on the rear porch". I've been told by people who were around that there was never a front porch on this building, so it was probably the back?)
