fresh herbs and garnishes

Tips for keeping fresh herbs for as long as possible. [1] [2] [3]

basil

This is the one herb that's better to not store it in the fridge. Store it on the counter in a vase or Mason jar with water, just like you would a bouquet of flowers. [2]

It lasts longest at a temperature between room temperature and the fridge. It also likes a slightly humid environment, so a plastic bag with holes in it, placed over the leaves.

scallions / green onions

You can freeze them, as long as you intend to use them cooked (since they go a bit limp after thawing). [1] [2] [3] [4▶ read caption] [5▶]
