My personalized list of habits, in the vein of the Atomic Habits book.
Choose recreational hobbies that don't involve the computer (or are Steam games, which are hard to load on a work laptop).
That way, when it comes time for recreational breaks during work hours, I can cleanly separate them from work activities — one is on the laptop, one is not.
Don't have the browser available as a hotkey. (eg. Windows+1)
Don't take my phone on bathroom breaks.
The intention is to use these short breaks to check in on my needs. This helps to have a bit of enforced mindfulness.
It's good and fine to take longer breaks where I use my phone. It's just that I'd like to distinguish between 1) regular very short breaks that I leverage to do self check-ins, and 2) 15+ minute breaks where I'm intentional about relaxing and getting my mind off of work.
