It's much better to get prescription reading glasses. After you get your normal glasses, it's not hard to buy some reading glasses with the same prescription, from an online store for not too much money.
If you're using clip-on-loupes, it may be worth getting special progressive lenses to make it easier to use those clip-on loupes.
