I need a magician's close-up mat that isn't too big. 8 x 11" is a good minimum size, and the thickness really needs to be 0.2" / 6mm or more.

While mouse pads could theoretically work, they seem to be often > 0.12" thick, so it seems like it's easier to just get a larger close-up mat and cut it in half or quarters.
