== Not just women == Despite the name, this wiki does not focus solely on women authors. It focuses on many groups of people who are underrepresented in mass media: * People of color * Gay and pansexual folks * Transgender folks * People who aren't able-bodied * People who aren't neurotypical * People who don't come from a perspective of class privilege or eduction privilege * any other group whose voices are under-represented, appropriated, or exploited == Media == This wiki covers more than just television or or film writers, or book writers. Our focus is on mass-media (see Killing Us Softly and media literacy generally) because this is what shapes most [first and second world] peoples' worldview. However, we wish to be inclusive: * Advertisement authors (see Killing Us Softly) * Music writers * TODO: fill this in more... what else is there? comic book artists... um.... ??? == Occupations == This wiki only covers people who have a large impact on the narrative element of the final work. For instance, with film, the author is definitely covered. Producers and directors may be covered. Set designers and publishers aren't covered. Although we celebrate women (and other underrepresentated groups) who are in positions where they can influence which projects get funded (eg. publishers, executives), this wiki's purpose is to highlight the narrative voices of women and other groups. == Broad goals == Above all, our goal is to eliminate the problem of privileged groups speaking for marginalized groups. Marginalized groups should be able to speak for themselves, because this helps eliminate caricatures and erasure.
