This thing is really handy for singeing the ends of synthetic rope. It uses a normal cigarette lighter for fuel, so it's super easy to refill, even when you're camping in the middle of nowhere.

It goes by a lot of different brands, but it's generally referred to as a "Micro-Jet".

The one I have is branded "Tech America", and was sold by Radio Shack.
