My verdict — I LOVE this stuff! It has some nice strong flavors, but that are "round" and not overpowering.

Variations — add brown sugar, add cinnamon, add vanilla bean paste [2].

(one option is to not add any salt to the butter, and then serve it with flake salt)

Small note: It helps to cook the brown butter in a small-footprint saucepot, because that makes it easier to move it over to the water bath without having to transfer it to a separate dish!
