So mice suck because they're not a keyboard... and keyboards suck because sometimes you need precise control (eg. see "Descent" the game).

What if it were possible to have half-a-keyboard's worth of button functionality on a mouse?

    1. certainly there are chording keyboards that reduce the number of buttons... And voila, there are a number of schemes for chording on a normal mouse.

    2. certainly there are mice with more or fewer buttons... I guess at a minimum, you'd want nearly one for every finger (though some of the fingers are also needed just to be able to precisely move the mouse itself)
To some extent, the more keys you have, the heavier the mouse is....

    3. it'd be really nice if I could figure out how to do that magical "computer knows where every single one of your fingers is" trick, because then the weight of the contraption wouldn't matter so much?
        I'm not sure though.
