This wiki avoids taking political positions whenever possible. For instance, we don't take a stand on * Whether female writers are "better" in some way than male writers.

There are ONLY THREE political assertions that this wiki makes:

* '''That certain groups are underrepresented as writers'''.

* '''That the underrepresentation is a problem'''. It's not as big of a problem as children starving in Africa, for instance, but it's important enough for people to read and contribute to this wiki.

* '''One way to address that problem is to publish lists of those writers''', to make it easier for individuals who seek them out. This is the only solution we tackle on this wiki.

Beyond those three, we MAKE NO OTHER POLITICAL CLAIMS. We feel that people from different backgrounds can come together on this small issue, and that if we made additional political claims, we would just drive away readers and contributors.

== This is not a place to argue whether this wiki should exist ==

We understand that not everyone may agree with the above three points, and that's perfectly fine. '''We are not here to argue''' whether the three points are valid, or to try to convince people that they are valid. We are not here to advance societal change. We exist solely so that people who agree with these assertions can more easily find writers they're interested in. We're here to preach to the choir, and that's it.

If you feel that [http://xkcd.com/386/ we are wrong] about the three points, the only advice we can give is to stop reading this wiki. [[wikipedia:Streisand effect|Don't link to us, don't mention us, don't Google us.]] If most people believe we are wrong, people won't read or contribute to this wiki, and it will wither in obscurity.

There may also be other websites that welcome debate on this topic. But this isn't the place.

== Dissent is encouraged ==

That said, we don't wish to quash discussion. Most things are open for discussion and disagreement (such as "which groups are underrepresented?"). We are egalitarian and anti-hierarchy.

If you '''disagree with our mission''', complaining about it won't accomplish anything. If you agree with our mission but '''disagree about how we're accomplishing it''', then please don't hesitate to speak up.
