Modifications

• Off-road cane tips exist. However, I've found it easy to cut grooves into local-store-bought cane tips, to add extra tread to them, using a pocket knife. (It's a little like regrooving a tire, or regrooving a shoe sole.)

• There is an important distinction between a cane (that goes up to your wrist), a walking stick (that goes up to around your shoulders), and a quarterstaff (that's taller than you are).
