Things to remember to do before going biking: (easier things to remember at top, less important or harder to remember things at bottom)
- check the weather, make sure it's not going to rain, and that you're dressed appropriately for the temperature
- reset your odometer before starting a trip!
- take cell phone + $40 so you can call a cab if you break down
- if rikding for >1 hour, take full water bottles
- if it's 11am or later, put on bug spray (ESPECIALLY if it's within an hour of civil twilight) (or just pack a travel-size spray bottle)
- if it's 10am - 3pm, put on sunscreen (or just pack a travel-size WELL-SEALED tube)
- if you've got the space, take a complete tire repair kit (eg. spare tube + tire levers + pump... maybe patch kit too, to help others if they break down)
- take kleenexes
- if going on a 2+ hour ride, take small amounts of energy, so I can keep my blood sugar even over time (stopping at a restaurant = possibly too much food at once, may upset stomach)
- granola bars
- oatmeal raisin cookies
- energy beans
