Note that 1) Google Earth Pro (for the desktop) and 2) Google Earth (for web and mobile) should be thought as two DISTINCT products at this point. This is because there are serious limits to transferring data in the Google Earth Pro ⇒ Google Earth direction — it is possible to import arbitrary .kml files into Google Earth (for web/mobile) and view them, but it is NOT possible to then share that imported .kml file with anyone. This is because Google Earth (for web and mobile) currently maintains a sharp distinction between a "project" and an "imported .kml file", and only the former is shareable.
Yes, this means you're severely limited in what information you can display to others via the web. Which sucks, it really sucks. See publish_to_web.md for alternatives.
QGIS has been specifically recommended for when Google Earth Pro gives you the "Edit limited to part of Multi Geometry collection" warning, and you want to be able to more in-depth editing.
