No real definitive sources, but these are the characteristics of the voltage available in a standard car:
- 8v while cranking
- 13.8v nominal when the engine is running
- Various transients:
- 60V for a tenth of a second
There are some industry-standard tests that I don't think I can look at, but may be interesting to search anyway:
- various (see table midway down)
- ISO 7637 — Road vehicles -- electrical disturbance by conduction and coupling
- ISO 11452 — Road vehicles -- Component test methods for electrical disturbances from narrowband radiated electromagnetic energy
- SAE J 1113 — Surface Vehicle Standard for "ELECTROMAGNETIC COMPATABILITY MEASUREMENT PROCEEDURES AND LIMITS FOR VEHICLE COMPONENTS (EXCEPT AIRCRAFT) (60 HZ TO 18 GHZ)"
