Ways to dissipate back-EMF from a high-voltage inductive load (eg. flyback/ignition coil):
classifications
What is done with the excessenergy:
- dissipative snubbers — the energy in the snubber is dissipated in a resistive element
- non-dissipative snubbers — the energy is returned to the input or moved ahead to the output
Polarization:
- polarized snubber — only acts on one edge of the waveform
- non-polarized snubber — acts on both edges of the waveform
