I consider myself a generalist (more specifically: a minor polymath). However, there seems to be a common perception that it's unproductive to study many different things, that it's only by having a specialized career can you maximize your income.
- Principle of comparative advantage — A formal argument for why specialization increases productivity. (it's interesting to note in the "Criticism" and "Marx" sections, that there may be human downsides to this)
