Random advice on training dogs, that might apply to me training cats:

advice for training recall specifically
- in later stages of training, play a hide-and-seek game
keep training sessions short
find a quiet location free from distractions when training them, make sure they're comfortable and not hungry / have to pee / etc
be VERY consistent — don't ignore any kind of behavior, whether desirable or undesirable — It causes confusion if you don't follow a sign of progress with a reward or words of praise, or if you ignore undesirable behaviors like chewing.
stages
- very first stage — just give them the signal, and give them the reward, at the same time
- second stage — get them to slowly associate the desired movements with the reward/ even if randomly/tepidly at first
