- check out from library / buy several Leslie Feinberg books. The lesbian-identified people at my meetup really like hir books, in particular Stone Butch Blues. I don't know to what extent sie is attractive primarily to lesbians, but the fact that sie is one of the few writers who use gender-neutral pronouns makes hir a clear standout.
(why yes, sie/hir do sound strange. It's called markedness. IMHO, 'marked' and 'queer' are pretty nearly synonyms)
(No, I don't view myself as trying to be more marked than I have to be. While I usually take a different path than anyone else, the directions I've taken are pretty extreme, and I don't think I'd commit to them as fully if my only motivation was being different.
As such, my view is that it's society that determines what's normative and what's not, and therefore, the decision of whether I'm "normal" is mostly out of my hands)
