In some ways, these pages are even more fascinating than empirical studies of real-world populations would be (though those would be REALLY awesome as well). This is because media portrayals have such a huge influence on how people WILL think after they're seen them. It almost matters less how people DO think in the absence of such media portrayals.
Also, the etiology behind some of the portrayals is fascinating as well. How it comes to pass that a few influential writers end up holding a notion, which then persuades millions of people to take up that same notion, that can be a very fascinating story.
