Things to regurgitate/ruminate over later.
- Gays and the Gaze — thinking about what the male gaze means in the context of gay admiration. I've had the same thoughts... that the gaze is perhaps not intrinsicly linked with a patriarchal assertion of power in EVERY case (even if it is in 90% of cases)
- ACTUALLY... looking at the intersection of gay relationships and patriarchy is very interesting. Using gay relationships as one lens through which to examine claims of relationship imbalances and how it relates to the patriarchy exerting its power may be revealing. This helps distinguish relationship imbalances (isues of top/bottom or pursuer/pursuee) from patriarchal power imbalances. (though, as always, it may not be possible to completely tease the two apart)
- In some ways, this is only fair, as lesbian feminism has been held out as the pinacle of women's liberation. If female homosexuality is a valid lens to examine the patriarchy, why not male homosexuality as well?
