How to make a PS3 controller work with your Android phone:

compatibility check:
- check this list to make sure your phone is compatible
- "It is highly recommended that you use an ORIGINAL [PS3] controller. Many after-market controllers will not work. The fake controllers that are most likely to work (though not guaranteed) are those made by Gasia."
root your phone
install the Sixaxis Compatibility Checker or the Sixaxis Controller app
follow these instructions to pair the controller with your phone
- one of the steps involves installing a small app on your laptop/desktop. This app is available for Windows, OS/X, and Linux.
install some Nintendo/Playstation emulators
- RetroArch is a great option
if necessary, configure the button-mappings so the emulator works well with the controller
- Sixaxis Controller — configure from the main Android IME menu
- RetroArch — on the screen where you choose among available emulators, tap the button in the top right; the Android's normal menu key doesn't work
