There are a large number of construction set available. Some of them go beyond mere toys, and have the ability to implement complex structural engineering projects (truss bridges, cranes, etc).
Construction sets that are 1) still available, and 2) have potential in exploring structural engineering:
- Meccano
- Quite complicated cranes can be built.
