- store an Hg repo on your thumb drive, that way your files can be accessible inside firewalls/etc without hassle
- for cases where I can't SSH directly to my webserver.... instead, have a local copy of my website, in Hg, make and view all my changes locally, and push the final version of all updated webpages to the webserver
- this is an alternate solution to using AJAX-based SSH when I'm running behind restrictive corporate firewalls
- it's also a solution when the internet link has an annoyingly high amount of latency, to the point that waiting for my keystrokes to have a visual effect just takes too long
