Various tips for using Inkscape to drive the laser cutter:

save as PDF
To print directly from Inkscape, you have to "Save as copy", and use the PDF format.
The following settings should be used when creating a PDF:
- version:
- convert text to paths:
- resolution for rasterization:
- export area is page:
Then open the PDF in any PDF viewer, and print.
save as DXF
For newer versions of Inkscape (perhaps v0.48.2 or later), use "Save as copy", and DXF (Desktop Cutting Plotter).

You can then import the DXF into any software that reads DXF. (TODO: which ones?)
