Things that are sorta optional and easy to forget, but that make life easier in the long run.
- even minimal-install guest-OS's should have support for ACPI installed
Reasoning: If you run the machine headless, and you lose all network contact, 'VBoxManage controlvm ... acpipowerbutton' is the only way to initiate a controlled shutdown. However, that doesn't work if the guest-OS doesn't have ACPI support installed.
