Zippo alternatives

Here I only include lighters that burn naphtha or kerosene.

other fuel

Most people use the official Zippo fuel or Ronsonol lighter fluid. These are basically just naphtha. But naphtha is a whole class of hydrocarbon fuels, and there are quite a few alternatives that will work just fine in your Zippo:

• perfume or aftershave
• WD-40
• acetone-based nail polish remover (produces a larger flame!)
• gasoline (produces a larger flame!)
• Coleman white gas
• paint thinner

• liquid paraffin, AKA kerosene (however, there are many reports that it won't ignite by itself, since kerosne has a very high ignition temperature than some of these other fuels
• gasoline
• methylated spirits
• high purity rubbing alcohol
• charcoal lighter fluid
  • While many people online has suggested this is a bad idea, some people report that it works just fine.
