How many other people have names like mine?
Newcum
The spellings "Newcomb" and "Newcombe" are far far more popular, and people frequently transcribe my name that way. Even variants such as "Newcome" and "Newcomer" are more common.
Still, there are a few of us real Newcums out there. There's a cluster in the midwest, and another group in Texas.
"Newcombe" means "new combe", or a "new glacial valley".[1][2][3] Though "newcomer" is possible as well.
