2006 — Ruleset changed to:
- 80 mph on expressways
- 10-over otherwise
June 8, 2007 — Ticket for going 79mph in a 55mph on I-94, just north of the Lake Forest Oasis [20 points]. Ruleset changed to:
March 23, 2008 — Ticket for going 74mph in a 55mph on IL-53 [20 points]. A Palatine police officer was hiding behind the bridge pillars where Dundee goes over IL-53.
- Drive like a grandma in the straights (no firm speed, but definitely less than what some surrounding cars are going), possibly engage in griefing as well.
- Drive like a madman in the corners, up to and including pretending like I'm in a high-speed chase.
April 12, 2008 — Ticket for going 63mph in a 45mph zone [20 points]. An officer was waiting at Mathews Middle School at ~12:30am. In my estimation, it was a section of the road that very few people travel on, and I typically gun it a little at those times. Since this was the third traffic violation in 12 months, I face suspension of my license if I plead guilty to this and the March ticket. This suggests it'd be suspended for 3 months (need to verify). Ruleset changed to:
- Failed to appear / plead led to default judgement.
- Drive literally at or under the speed limit. No griefing, since I actually do know people who have gotten pulled over for going slow in the wrong lane.
- Possibly drive up to the speed limit on the corners, but nothing at all obviously outrageous like I was doing before.
- Repeat after me: Maximum velocity is tightly controlled. Maximum acceleration is not.
- Literally, no goofing around at all. If you want to goof around, see point #3 and Newton's second law of motion. (that is: acceleration/deceleration is what you viscerally feel, and that can be experienced moreso by slamming on the brakes and then getting back up to the speed-limit, than it can be slightly exceeding the speed limit)
? — ticket for squealing tires on a corner. I hired a lawyer for $200, and he got the charges dismissed.
April 22, 2009 — Ticket for going 79mph in a 55mph zone, on I-90 west of Schaumburg, late Friday night.
