What's worked for me (or not):

• It has NOT worked through VirtualBox, even after you get the GPU-passthrough working. It makes my GPU crash. :(
• I WAS able to get it working through Wine, following the winetricks instructions here.

The map won't display. This is a known problem, due to gameoverlayrenderer.dll not working in wine.

There are some reports that this is working now, starting in wine 1.7.38. [2] [3]
