basic usability tips
- in windows, to run adom:
- open up a separate dos prompt
- do alt-enter to go into the native text mode
- make sure it's in 50-line mode (this actually affects your game!! it makes every randomly-generated level bigger!)
- navigate to the adom directory by hand
- start up adom
- when you die, you can start adom right away again... no need to change modes this way
- keep a text editor open, to be able to quickly search the various texts available. in
particular, be able to quickly search the keystrokes descriptions (which are't available usually in
text form, so you have to copy-n-paste the whole damn thing). or, just grap my documentation bundle.
