- create an "enhanced user map" that contains a full shop, and create one for each different kind of shop. This will make it MUCH easier for others to record YouTube videos that explain how to best attack each kind of shopkeeper.
            (see discussion here: http://spelunky.wikia.com/wiki/Talk:Shopkeepers )

- figure out how to create "trainer levels" that have little pop-up messages like the tutorial level has, that teaches the user all the ins and outs of how different objects work

        - trainer levels to do:
                - arrow traps:
                    - various ways to fall past them without getting hit
                    - for traps that you can't fall past, show how to trigger them with your body, while still avoiding the arrow
                - reliably jump and whip bats

- is it possible to modify my 'wholelevel' .exe so that the normal "frozen region" is still in effect?
I have copious notes on this at ~/crs/2009-02-05__Spelunky__wholelevel_v2

- is it possible to do a step-by-step frame changes, and capture each frame, and animate them into a GIF?

    - oooh, GMCap looks nice!
            http://gmc.yoyogames.com/index.php?showtopic=303679
                        but the link is daed
            http://gmc.yoyogames.com/index.php?showtopic=280053
                        this one works anyway
                - so... the example code has gmcap_avi_add_frame_from_region() in the 'step' event
                - and gmcap_avi_set_paused(!gmcap_avi_get_paused());   in the P-key handler.  Nice.  :)

- get static screenshots for:
http://spelunky.wikia.com/wiki/Spring_Shoes -- make a single image for these two, showing the difference between the two
        http://spelunky.wikia.com/wiki/Spike_Shoes

        http://spelunky.wikia.com/wiki/Traps

- make an alpha-masked version of:
        http://spelunky.wikia.com/wiki/Image:Sprite_SpiderFlip.gif
                - god, is there a better, more informative screenshot though? This one is kind of shitty.
        http://spelunky.wikia.com/wiki/Image:Sprite_Bomb.gif

it may be easier to just write an ImageMagick script to do this, since we're now talking
about handling a fair number of different files

- once we get the full in-game animated GIF thing working, make one for:
http://spelunky.wikia.com/wiki/Damsel -- I tried to do a single-sprite version, but it looked a little weird all by itself.
http://spelunky.wikia.com/wiki/Skeletons -- would be better if we could get a full animation of the guy getting up and walking along
http://spelunky.wikia.com/wiki/Whip -- slow it down so it's easier to see the back and front sections (otherwise you have to glue together sAttackRight+sWhipPreR+sWhipRight)
http://spelunky.wikia.com/wiki/Giant_Head -- need one of it breaking off its shell / coming to life
