Clerk of the Circuit Court

• 1) go to CookCountyClerkOfCourt.org, 2) go to Online Case Info > Full Electronic Docket Search, 3) search for defendent name = Valentino
  • be sure to search in ALL FOUR divisions (Chancery, Civil, Law, and Domestic Relations/Child Support)
  • also be sure to search for the address ("1509 N CALIFORNIA") as the defendent

Cook County Recorder of Deeds

• 1) go to ccrd.info, 2) go to Property Identification Number (PIN) Search, 3) search for PIN=16-01-200-013-0000
• If there's an entry marked "lis pendens", that means there's a lawsuit pending related to the property.

By law

• M.C.C. 5-12-095
  • the landlord must notify tenants within 7 days of being served a foreclosure complaint
  • this is enforcable by the fact that 1) the tenant can terminate the contract at that point, and 2) the tenant can sue the landlord for $200 (yeah right, like it would be recoverable in any way)
    • TODO: notify ALL tenants of this fact — if he faced the possibility of having 4x the fees, would he think twice then?
    • probably not
