Heat pan over medium-high heat. Add 2 tbsp oil, place dumplings in pan. Add enough water to just cover bottom of pan, cover, and cook for 5 mins.
Remove cover and keep cooking until water evaporates and bottoms are brown, about 5 mins.
Before progressing beyond the steaming step, make sure the internal temperature is okay (not frozen) by either cutting one open or using a meat thermometer.
