Progressive muscle relaxation is one relaxation technique among several (guided imagery, mindfulness exercises, etc) that my therapist recommends for 1) reducing anxiety generally, but 2) especially for getting back to sleep when I'm in that gray zone where I realize it's difficult to fall back asleep, but I haven't fully woken up yet either.
PDFs are particularly good, because I don't want to turn the computer/monitor on (bright light = bad) when I'm in that gray zone at night.
Prerecorded audio is another option.
