Political news shows that are the highlight of my week. (those that focus more on lengthy analysis than on late-breaking snippets)
- Mon - Fri: The Brian Lehrer Show
- Fri: Slate's political gabfest — deliciously over-educated
- Fri: On the Media — usually reviews other news organization's coverage, focusing on insider-journalism criticisms, though sometimes it strays off to presenting its own personal analysis of political news (which people criticize them for... perhaps it's not right to straight-jacket them, but there aren't many places that attempt to do a good job of covering the journalism trade, and the show's title does set up these expectations...)
- Fri: Diane Rehm's Friday News Roundup
- Fri: Left, Right & Center — worth listening to just for Tony Blankley's thoughtful analysis... he's one of the few self-labeled conservatives definitely worth listening to (though unfortunately he's paired with the much more shallow Arianna Huffington, who seems to often come up with a comeback merely for comeback's sake, and Robert Scheer, who is also not as thoughtful as Tony)
- all the Sunday morning talk shows / newsmagazines
