packages I like to install on new Cygwin installations

Basic utilities:

• zip + unzip
• tree
• bind-utils provides dig

Important larger apps:

• tmux
• git
• vim + gvim (note: here's some tips for getting gvim working under Cygwin)
• TODO — I wish I could get GNU Screen to work

Development:

• perl

X Window:

• a basic installation — xinit + xlaunch

If you have apt-cyg installed, then just run this:

apt-cyg install zip unzip tree bind-utils tmux git vim gvim perl xinit xlaunch
