I don't know why, but I like the look of unpainted/unglazed ceramic/porcelain figurines. (biscuit/bisque)

I think it's my attraction to black-and-white photography, the fact that you can focus on lighting and shadows, rather than colors.

Now that I bought a chess set, perhaps constructing some castle walls just behind them, that looks like this, would be nice?

On Etsy, you should be able to ask artists if they can make a regular item be unpainted and unglazed.
