- UI
- a multi-position "mode" knob
- main position = default behavior
- 2nd position = force lights off
this will either have a timer on it (so if it's left on for too long, it stops working), or if it's in this position at bootup, then it will be interpreted as the main position)
- 3rd position = left-foot braking mode
To allow me to ride someone's bumper while left-foot braking, without arousing the notice of too many other people, it would delay the onset of the brake light, so that if I quickly touch and release the brake, it doesn't turn the rear light on. This can be a safety issue, since in normal driving, if one of the expressway "rapid mass stop" occurs, you WANT the response-time to be as fast as possible. So, this should have similar timeout protection to the "force lights off" mode.
- 4th position = light show
If I really want to get someone's attention, or otherwise confirm that I have some goofy stuff going on, make the rear three lights flash in sequence, or flash very quickly at varying rates.
- one momentary push-button switch
to force-on all brake lights
- three momentary push-button switches
to force-on each light individually, to let me do my own "finger-based" light show
- three feedback red LEDs
one for each individual light, to give feedback about when they're on (this should be really GOOD feedback... to the point that if a bulb burns out, then the associated LED will no longer light either)
