It's important to be aware of other engineering endeavors that have tackled similar issues that you're working on. In some cases, they've invested a lot of time and money, and you can freely use their advances in your own project.
Mobile ham radios
Some mobile hams literally have the tallest-possible radio antenna mounted on top of their car, and secured by guy-wires. (though, granted, they face much lower maximum speeds than this project does)
Radio tower guy wires
Radio towers (particularly radiating ones) have several LARGE incentives to use non-conductive guy-wires. Our project would benefit from STRONG plastic guy-wires.
