- aeration (octopuses are very active) (check air pumps, air stones, etc.)
- heater (check thermometer)

- empty protein skimmer cup
- weekly
- check water chemistry, and take steps to bring them back in range as needed
- nitrate
- specific gravity / salt concentration
- pH
- alkalinity
- if something is amiss, while setting up tank, etc
- check ammonia levels
- check nitrate levels
