- buy some decent running shoes
    
- find a stairs / bleachers / stadium to do stairmaster exercises at
- find at least one organized sport to join
    
            (a regular hiking group, or a group ride, or cyclocross training)
         
- START RUNNING.  Take it easy at first, whatever you need to do.  But START.
