To make a drive DOS-bootable:
- Floppy disk or internal hard drive: Use the sys.com method.
- External USB hard drive or USB flash drive: When BIOS boots these, these look exactly like an internal hard drive; no USB drivers are needed. Just use the sys.com method.
- CD/DVD: Most people use the floppy-emulation method, though the no-emulation method can be used to avoid hardware-specific drivers.
