GRUB4DOS's readme.txt mentions:

find --set-root /io.sys
chainloader /io.sys

bare minimum files
- pre-install
  - grubinst.exe — used to install grldr FROM WINDOWS
- post-install
  - grldr — obviously
  - io.sys/msdos.sys/config.sys — obviously
  - menu.lst (any way to eliminate this?)
