Is pretty willing to MacGyver unorthodox solutions in order to "get 'er done". I've seen people do this out of necessity before, when their access to the global trade network (and thus to specialized parts) is limited, both in terms of increased cost and greatly increased shipping times.
Is fairly parsimonious in terms of using the cheapest/easiest building methods for each step as possible. Nothing is over-built.
