Safety

You want to keep your reservoir of hydrogen as small as possible, while still letting you get your task done. The worst case scenario is if the reservoir grows very large, then any accident can result in a very large explosion. Ideally your hydrogen generator has a hydrogen production rate that matches your burn rate, so the reservoir can be miniscule. However, a generator capable of such a high output can be unnecessarily expensive, so in some cases you might have a non-miniscule reservoir, just for practicality's sake.
